St. Columba
Missionary Monk of Iona
St. Columba (also called Colum Cille) was a sixth-century Irish monk remembered for his missionary zeal and monastic leadership. He founded the monastery of Iona, which became a center of prayer, learning, and evangelization.
Catholic tradition remembers St. Columba as a witness to conversion, discipline, and the power of Christian community. His life inspires believers to unite prayer with mission and to bring the Gospel to the places where faith is weakest.
His example remains a call to holiness: seek God deeply, serve others generously, and keep the Church's mission at the center of daily life.
